What is abdominal MRI:

An MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging, An abdominal MRI magnetic resonance imaging scan is an imaging test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of the inside of the belly area In MRI your bally is inside strong magnetic field. Images can be display on computer. It gives you information about abnormalities in the structure. This is safe and painless procedure

Why it is done:
  • An abdominal MRI provides detailed pictures of the belly area from many views
  • This test find the tumor in the abdominal and tumor is noncancerous (benign) or cancerous
  • Check the blood flow in abdomen and find the causes of pain and swelling
  • This test give the result for blocked tube or stones in the tube
  • Check liver and kidney problems
  • This test is used to find injury or stones in the gallbladder or kidney
  • This test is done to find out hernia, tumors and cancers
Preparations for test:
  • Before your MRI test, tell your doctor if you have any allergy
  • Do not eat for 4-6 hours before the exam
  • Jewelry, watches, credit cards and hearing aids, all of is not allowed in the test room
  • If you are pregnant, please tell your doctor before test
How it is done:
  • MRI use magnet and radio wave to take image of the organ
  • For the MRI test you are placed inside the magnet so that your belly is inside the strong magnetic field
  • In this test magnet and radio wave create image of abdomen so that doctor can check abnormalities in the abdomen
